Illuminares lantern festival at Trout Lake: The traditional closing fireworks at the lantern festival Saturday have been cancelled but Illuminares itself will go ahead from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., July 28, at Trout Lake Park in east Vancouver. Organizer Public Dreams says it will be facing increased costs and asks participants to contribute to the brightly-dressed Donation Jesters at the event. Public Dreams has relocated lantern-building workshops from Trout Lake Community Centre to Il Mercato mall at Commercial Drive and 1st Avenue.
