It sounds like what you're actually suffering from is an inferiority complex when you look at our southern neighbors. You like to cling to them when it's convenient, supporting their cultural exports but separate yourself from them when the relationship gets too messy. The fact is both our countries are politically, socially, and economically tied. Hell, we're fighting their war with them. Canadians should be following American politics as well as their own because the next American president will have a direct affect on Canadian lives.
