A statue in Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Park was stolen somehow late Thursday night or early this morning.
Staff arrived to find a piece of the bronze statue set called "Photo Session" missing. The set depicts a family posing for a picture at the view point near the Bloedel Conservatory. The thief or thieves made off with the mother piece.
Korina Houghton, chair of the Vancouver Park Board doesn't have a monetary figure for the statue, but she says it definitely has cultural value.
"It's very valuable culturally I think, to the Park Board and to the citizens of Vancouver. People take pictures of that all the time up there. It's a real loss."
Houghton has no idea how or why anyone would take the heavy statue. She asks anyone who can help to call Vancouver Police.
