TransLink's new surveillance system at SkyTrain stations is now in place.
The digital equipment records 30 frames per second, as compared to the old VHS system which recorded just two under the old analog system. The digital equipment is also much clearer.
Earlier this year, TransLink said they would replace the VHS system after it was found to sometimes erase tapes two hours after recordings.

The old system was a complete joke. I was actually thinking about this today while on a train, hearing some wyno yelling his head off on one of the station platforms. I'm glad they upgraded to digital, as there are likely many unreported crimes gone by the wayside because that VHS tape looped every 2 hours.
