Transit Police Force(d) to Talk About Tasers

I guess I'm kind of turning into the Taser update guy, but this is vitally important stuff. I personally don't want tens of thousands of volts of electricity pumping through me or anyone else in the Lower Mainland for talking back to a member of the Transit Police, or trying to evade a fare (I don't, I have a pass). It's a very serious matter of public safety, and we all need to keep on top of it, or else it will fade into obscurity.
From 24 Hours
" Solicitor General John van Dongen has ordered the Metro Vancouver transit police to testify before the Braidwood inquiry into Taser use.
The police had refused a request to appear because their use of Tasers is already being investigated by the B.C. Police Complaints Commission after word they'd used Tasers on people at least four times in the last 18 months, including for fare evasion.
But van Dongen says he spoke to the chair of the transit police board of directors, Lorne Zapotichny, and told him that his agency must appear before the inquiry.
He says Zapotichny, who is chief of the New Westminster police, supported his view that it's in the public interest that the transit police appear. "
Squirmy, squirmy, time to talk. I don't know why the Transit Police force would go through the PR nightmare of trying to just not show up when requested to an inquiry that is investigating the use of a tool they have reportedly used extremely liberally in the last year.
Time for accountability folks, and I gotta say, it's more than overdue.
