Taser Update : They Can't Be Used on Pregnant Women?!

Well no shit.
But it came out during the RCMP Taser inquiry, and was presented to be one of the 'noble' aspects of Taser usage. It even made its way onto the cover of the Vancouver Sun as a headline, "Pregnant Women Can't Be Tasered: Inquiry Finds'.
Is this not already accepted logic?
Well I guess accepted logic would also be that no one should shock (twice, in a premeditated fashion) a man who just landed in this country, doesn't speak English, and is backed up against a glass wall with his hands in the air and four police officers out in front of him.
But that didn't really work out very well for Robert Dziekanski , so I guess the softball logic situations do need to be spelled out for some people.
I'm glad that we're having this inquiry and this debate about Taser usage, because I think for too long it has been too easy for law enforcement to use as a compliance tool instead the way it should be used, in the same capacity as one would use a gun.
I think we'll find after the inquiry that things are restricted a bit more for Translink officers, if not across the board, as enforcement also has a PR game to play, and no one wants to seem overzealous about sending 50,000 volts of electricity into someone carrying a child......Wait, just did a quick Google and what did I find but the reasoning for not Tasering pregnant women. It's different than you'd think :
From the Vancouver Sun
" Vancouver police won't use a Taser on a pregnant woman because of concern she would fall and be injured, a police trainer told a Taser inquiry Thursday.
"That's your only concern?" asked inquiry lawyer Patrick McGowan.
"At this point, yes," replied Const. Tammy Hammell, coordinator of the conducted energy weapons (Tasers) program for the Vancouver police force. "
Well my softball logic is out the window now eh?
