VANCOUVER -- Canadians are most proud of their national flag, their Armed Forces and hockey, according to a new poll released to coincide with the country's birthday Tuesday.
The online poll by Angus Reid Strategies asked Canadians to choose which of 12 "institutions and features" made them most proud.
The poll found that 86 per cent of respondents said the Canadian flag makes them "very proud" or "moderately proud". The Armed Forces and hockey followed at 80 per cent and 71 per cent, respectively.
Parliament (32 per cent), monarchy (36 per cent) and the Canadian justice system (42 per cent) inspired the least amount of pride. Pride in economy, bilingualism, health care and multiculturalism decreased with age and increased with education, according to the new poll.
